9th Kiteboard World Cup in Cabarete - June 16-20, 2010
Summer brings the best winds and waves to Cabarete. The Cabarete beach destination is preparing for the 9th World Kiteboarding Cup from 16-20 June at Bozo Beach section of Cabarete, in Puerto Plata province. The event is being organized by the Professional Kiteboard Riders Association and Cabarete businesses. The world's leading kiteboarders will be competing for the US$30,000 prize money. Viva Wyndham Tangerine is one of the sponsors and is offering special rates to visitors coming for the event.
Follow the Rum Route - June 19, 2010
Brugal Rum is inviting everyone to participate in the Rum Route. This will be an event taking rum enthusiasts from San Pedro de Macoris in the southeast to Puerto Plata in the north. More than 2,000 enthusiasts are expected to take part. The discovery of rum begins at the Brugal rum distillery in San Pedro de Macoris and will end at the Puerto Plata rum factory, where the rum is aged. Rum enthusiasts from Puerto Rico, Miami, Haiti, Spain, Central America and South America will be participating.
There will be several categories for making the drive: Cruiser motorcycle, four wheels, super bikes, 4x4 vehicles, enduro motorcycles, boogies, antique cars and exotic vehicles. The rum event will kick off with the performance of the world famous Star Boys and their motorcycle acrobatics.
10% of all funds collected will be donated to the George Arzeno Brugal Educational Center (Fe y Alegria) in San Marcos, Puerto Plata.
